STATE AND FOREIGN OPERATIONS REQUESTS

 

The following projects are within the State, Foreign Operations Appropriations bill.  The work must be conducted outside the United States and must be in support of United States foreign policy.

 

Shaare Zedek Medical Center Partnership on Breast & Ovarian Cancer Awareness & Research in the Middle East

The American Committee for Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem
New York, NY

The project would provide for Israeli, American and Palestinian doctors to research the mutations that are responsible for the inherited susceptibility to breast and ovarian cancer among women of Arab-Israeli, Palestinian, and non-Ashkenazi Jewish origin. In addition to the scientific merits of this initiative, the goal is to promote peace and social understanding through medicine.

 

Refugee Support and Education Program

Darfur Rehabilitation Project Inc.
Newark, NJ

This funding would be used to support the Darfur Rehabilitation Project's mission to raise public awareness of the on-going violence in the Darfur region and to bring justice, peace, reconciliation, and rehabilitation to those people affected by the genocide and displacement. The project would provide additional services in education and training to assist Darfurian communities, women and children affected by the genocide and displacement.

 

Malaria Vaccine Initiative Report Language

PATH - Malaria Vaccine Initiative

Malaria affects millions of people every year and the PATH - Malaria Vaccine Initiative works to accelerate the development of malaria vaccines and ensure their availability and accessibility in the developing world. This funding would support the PATH Malaria Vaccine Initiative's research efforts.

The Coalition Against Hate is a partnership of more than 50 human rights and religious freedom non-governmental organizations that have formed to target the dramatic rise in antisemitic and xenophobic hate crimes discrimination against religious and ethnic minorities in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus.
