MILITARY CONSTRUCTION AND VETERANS AFFAIRS REQUESTS

The following projects, listed in alphabetical order by military installation, will help support New Jersey’s troops and improve military readiness. These projects were requested by the New Jersey Department of Military and Veterans Affairs.

Fuel Cell and Corrosion Control Hanger

177 Fighter Wing, Egg Harbor Township, NJ

The funding will be used to construct a Fuel Cell Maintenance Dock that will provide covered, protected areas for fuel systems maintenance. This will include proper heating, electrical, plumbing, compressed air systems, mechanical ventilation, fume sensing alarm systems, fire extinguishing and wash-down drains. The Corrosion Control Hangar will provide an environmentally controlled area to wash aircraft as well as hangar space for corrosion treatment and repair. The current housing is poorly configured with mechanical ventilation that does not adequately meet the environmental and occupation health and safety requirements.

Requested: $8,500,000

Photovoltaic Generation System

177th Fighter Wing, Egg Harbor Township, NJ

The funding will be used for the installation of a 500 KW Photovoltaic Solar Power system on the roof at the 177th Fighter Wing. This project, which was also requested by the President, will supply approximately 25% of the base's electricity requirement annually, reducing cost and saving energy.

Requested: $3,700,000

Automated Multipurpose Machine Gun Range

Joint Base / Fort Dix, NJ

This project will construct a new 10-lane Multipurpose Machine Gun Transition Range for support of the M2 Machine Gun and M249 Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW). This is required to train and test soldiers on the skills necessary to detect, identify, engage and defeat stationary and moving infantry targets in a tactical array.

Requested: $8,900,000

Completion of Parking Apron

Joint Base / Fort Dix, NJ

The funding will be used to complete the Parking Apron portion of the previously funded Parking Apron/Taxiway project at Fort Dix, New Jersey. This will help to synergize the primary missions of the Army and Air Force by allowing McGuire AFB to effectively and efficiently conduct strategic lift operations in direct support of Fort Dix's deployment and mobilization mission.

Requested: $7,500,000

Electrical Distribution System-Phase II

Joint Base / Fort Dix, NJ

All electricity throughout Fort Dix is provided from a system of overhead wires. This antiquated system causes numerous power difficulties throughout the year. This project will provide the funding necessary for the Fort Dix system to be upgraded and placed underground.

Requested: $7,600,000

Solar Photovoltaic Roof Top Installation

Joint Base / Fort Dix, NJ

The funding will be used to install a 500 KWstc roof mounted photovoltaic solar power system on Joint Force Headquarters - Fort Dix. The system incorporates state-of-the-art high efficiency photovoltaic modules mounted to roofing tiles that will provide reduced energy costs and renewable energy.

Requested: $5,496,000

US Property and Fiscal Office (USPFO) Complex

Joint Base / Fort Dix, NJ

This project will provide a permanent USPFO office to serve the missions of the New Jersey Army National Guard (NJ ARNG). Currently buildings are scattered which could hinder response to state emergencies and federal mobilizations. This funding would provide a state-of-the-art National Guard mission support facility that will permit all personnel to perform the tasks required for the daily operation of the NJ ARNG.

Requested: $3,490,000

Aircraft Carrier Integrated Test (ACAIT) Center

Joint Base / Lakehurst, NJ

The Aircraft Carrier Integrated Test (ACAIT) Center will consolidate all aircraft recovery and launch systems into a single research, development, testing and evaluation facility. This facility will significantly improve the ability of NAVAIR Lakehurst to perform future aircraft launch and recovery testing and shipboard integration of vital shipboard aircraft launch and recovery systems for the Navy.

Requested: $12,650,000

Commercial Gate Security Improvements

Joint Base / Lakehurst, NJ

The funding will be used to upgrade the Commercial Gate into a fully functional Entry Control Point compliant with Unified Design Guidance for Entry Control Facilities. The project will incorporate counter-terrorism (CT) measures and characteristics to protect national security assets at Joint Base - Lakehurst from possible terrorist threats.

Requested: $7,100,000

Communications-Electronics Research, Development and Engineering Center (CERDEC) Flight Activity Facility

Joint Base / Lakehurst, NJ

Communications-Electronics Research, Development and Engineering Center (CERDEC) Flight Activity operates out of a pre-World War II wooden hangar. The condition of the hangar has deteriorated enough to necessitate the installation of safety netting on the inside of the hangar to prevent debris from falling on personnel, aircraft and equipment. This funding would be used to relocate the activity to a new state-of-the-art facility.

Requested: $35,000,000

Solar Canopy - Consolidated Logistics Training Facility

Joint Base / Lakehurst, NJ

The funding will be used to install a 1 MW KW Solar Canopy at the Consolidated Logistics Training Facility (CLTF) Joint Base-Lakehurst to produce renewable energy. When operating to full capacity, this system will reduce power demand by up to 75 percent.

Requested: $10,308,000

Solar Photovoltaic - Building 129

Joint Base / Lakehurst, NJ

This project provides the installation of a 500 KWstc photovoltaic solar power system on Building 129 incorporating connections for electric vehicle recharging capabilities. This will be a roof mounted system on a new roof membrane. When operating at full capacity, this system will reduce the Unit Armory facility power demand by up to 75 percent.

Requested: $5,408,000

Base Ops/Command Post Facility
