The project will help meet the region's need for expanded access to training in solar technology, and will be marketed to serve the region's unemployed, underemployed and displaced workers, especially those in the building trades.

Students deliver meals, tutor at-risk children, educate clients on nutrition and healthy eating, partner with local farmers for sustainable food resources and economic development opportunities as well as lead a culinary job training program for unemployed adults.

The system upgrade will track the history of medication selection, dosage, and adjustment to increase patient safety and help improve delivery of quality medical care after discharge.

Electronic Health Record Initiative

The requested funds will be used to purchase electronic health record equipment that will allow physicians to bring up all prior visit and testing information on a cart mounted computer in the exam room with the patient. The visit will be electronically documented eliminating the need for hand written documentation, forms and dictation. Once the visit is complete the system will generate the medical record, automatically fax a report to the primary care physician, bill the visit and electronically send all prescriptions to the patient's pharmacy.

Foods purchased in the summer and used in the winter would come from area farms and community gardeners to support the local economy. The foods will be used for the free, healthy meals given to needy families in the soup kitchen and to have products for sale that in turn supports its non-profit operation.

The Institute uses revolutionary imaging techniques to 'see' inside the body while guiding narrow tubes (catheters) and other very small instruments through the blood vessels and other pathways of the body to the site of a problem. It enables patients to receive treatment for a variety of disorders without surgery. General anesthesia is seldom used, and risk, pain and recovery time are significantly reduced.

Comprehensive Community Child Abuse Prevention

These services will enable the grandparents to continue to raise their grandchildren ensuring that these children don't enter the child welfare system.

Rapid Room Sterilization to Reduce the Incidence of Nosocomial Infections
