Helping Constituents with Federal Agencies
Dealing with federal agencies can sometimes be frustrating and time-consuming. The constituent liaison staff can "cut the red tape" and help identify an appropriate - and hopefully positive - solution. Here are the types of issues with which we can assist you:
- Affordable Housing: Provide information on community and statewide programs.
- Economic Development: Provide resource information about technical and financial assistance; act as a liaison for FDIC, Customs, SBA and trade concerns.
- Federal Employees: Work with Office of Personnel Management on benefit problems.
- Health: Clarify eligibility requirements, benefits options and program changes.
- Immigration and Passports: Clarify and track visa applications; passport information, including renewals and expedition; overseas travel updates.
- Low-income New Jerseyans: Provide information and referrals to those qualifying for assistance, including the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
- Military: Assist with active duty, retirees and National Guard Reserve issues.
- Request Documents: Request copies of federal bills, laws and other information.
- Social Security: Track lost checks and appeals; clarify offset rules, benefits, retirement and disability claims.
- Taxes: Work with IRS to resolve ongoing disputes; clarify tax questions.
- Veterans: Secure military records and medals; assist with claims for compensation and pensions; provide information on education benefits and home loans.
Unfortunately, there are certain issues with which we cannot help: non-federal issues such as renewal of Notary Public Licenses and problems with a driver's license or a property tax rebate. The Senator is also prohibited by law from recommending you for a job or a promotion.
